[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]There comes a moment when you finish your draft, whether it’s of a chapter or an entire book, when many authors wonder if it’s any good. Sometimes this process happens during edits, and it doesn’t matter if you are working on your first book or your fifty-first. That same self-doubt can come creeping in. The good thing is that it’s normal. Nearly every author I know of feels self-doubt at some point in the process. The other good thing is that this usually has one source: your sense of deservingness.
Self-doubt comes from a place of “who am I?” and it usually ends with some kind of comparison. You might ask, “who am I to publish my book?” or “who am I to try and hit the best seller list?” In short, you question whether you DESERVE to do these things.
I’m here to tell you that yes, dear author, you DESERVE to do those things and more. Right now it’s vital that no matter what step you’re on in your publishing and writing journey, that you pause and check your deserving meter. Is it low? Maybe running on empty? Or is it full up and you believe that you deserve all the good things in life.
This isn’t a matter of being egotistical or self-centered. Rather, there’s no reason why everyone can’t have all the wonderful things they want in life. This game where we believe that we have to work harder or do more or be more to get what we want is a trick of capitalism. It’s what the system wants us to believe. It’s not the truth.
Of course we also need to put in the work to be deserving, but if we’re knocking ourselves down right out of the gate, then that work is only going to be harder. Instead, start checking your deserving meter. Think about what you deserve, and then go after it.[/vc_column_text][vc_zigzag color=”orange” el_width=”70″][vc_column_text]Subscribe to our newsletter and receive our free gift, Social Media Header Magic.
