Technology is changing at a rapid pace, and while I don’t claim to have all the answers, one of my passions is making technology a bit easier for the layperson to understand. When I try to talk about some of these changes on social media, I’m also hearing a lot of authors say something to the effect of, “I don’t write (fill in what’s being targeted today), so it doesn’t matter.” Or, as someone from a publisher I used to work with says, “(fill in who is being a PITA today) always does this. it’s nothing new.” Now, I’m used to being the suffocating canary in the coal mine, so this type of dismissal is nothing new. One thing that my pattern-seeking brain does is identify trends and the ways in which the wind is blowing, and some of these tech changes fall under this umbrella. And I want to let you know about them.
But also, because of the ways in which technology is changing, a lot of people I speak with are confused. Or they’re wondering how they can adapt or keep up. That’s where Tech Thursdays will come into play. I hope to discuss some of the more salient issues and share my thoughts on them in the hopes of cutting through the noise and helping authors do what they love to do most — write.
I’ll also be talking a bit more about the services I offer. I think people right now want to know that there’s a real person behind the customer support they receive, and more importantly, a real person who values the creativity and input a real person can bring to technology — not AI slop.
I’ve got a list of topics I want to write about, but if there’s something you’d like me to cover, drop a comment. I’d love to hear.
